Cricut Swap - April

I participated in another swap at Cricut.com . It was fun and challenging. The categories where "Let the music move you", "Tropical Vacation" & "Journals & Tags".

The luggage tag was easy to make and it was fun. I used an SCAL file from svgcuts.com . Others in my group where making coconuts and palm trees and titles, so, hopefully, this will be a great addition to the group.

This cut was more challenging because I had higher expecations on what I wanted to and I was trying to overachieve, again. I need to remember that simpler is better! I received the dancer SCAL file from: Dancer Sihouette: http://mycricutscrapbooking.com/2009/03/28/dancer-silhouette-svg/
and the Musical Note from: http://all-free-download.com/free-vector/vector-clip-art/musical_note_2_clip_art_12286.html. I like how this turned out... simple and elegant!

For the tag, I use a free font dingbat from: http://cleversomeday.wordpress.com/2009/05/24/new-free-dingbat-font-for-die-cutters/ I loved this file and will be using it many times!

Thanks for looking!!

Remember Scrapbook Page

I made this page with a picture of my niece and me taken a year ago. She is so big now and I am very proud of her accomplishments!

Metal tag I engraved with our names.

I used Tim Holtz retractable scratcher to make the scratched edges of the photo and then I used his page distresser to tear up the edges a little bit. It was fun and I will use these tools lots more!

I made this flowers from a video tutorial using Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists. Click Here to see the video.

The poem is titled "Remember" and it reads:
Remember that a little love goes a long way.
Remember that a lot... goes forever.
Remember that friendship is a wise investment.
Life's treasures are people... together.
Realize that it's never too late.
Do ordinary things in an extraordinary way.
Have health and hope and happiness.
Take the time to wish upon a star.
And don't ever forget... for even a day...
How very special you are.

Bath Time pop-up page

I made this page using directions from the Everyday Cricut Blog, http://www.cricutholiday.com/ . It was so easy and it turned out awesome! I had more of a challenge with figuring out what I wanted the page to look like more than actually getting it cut. I have plans to do more!

Catching up!

I have decided to start blogging again =o) I make so much stuff and I would love to share it! I have photos of everything I create, I just forget to post it, lol!

I made this with my daughter at Michaels scrapbook crop night about 2 weeks ago. It was super easy and so much fun, we had a blast! I used 3 wood letters, painted them black with acrylic paint and then glued halloween scrapbook paper to them. When they were dry, I glued halloween die cuts all around them... it tuned out great!

When we got home, I hung up the letters underneath the frame my daughter made while we were there. She made it by just "messing around" at first, but then she kept getting creative and adding more until it was a masterpiece! I am keeping it forever!

I am just crazy about you

This page was inspired from a scrapbook page I saw on the "Life is what life does" blog: CLICK HERE I loved that page so much, I decided to try my own.

For this page, I used my Cricut Expression to cut out the corner decorations and the center "wheel" using the Accents Essentials cart. I used the Plantin Schoolbook cart for the center O and for the wording. I cut the wording out of 2 different papers to give the illusion of shadowing/chipboard.

I embossed the corner decorations and the "wheel" with gold heat embossing powder. I used metal brads for the corners of the page, the corners of the photo and a little decoration in the center of the wheel. I used the torn Mulberry paper for the photo mat and a date stamp on the bottom of the photo.

I used various papers on this page, I am sorry, but I do not know the names. I am using up my older stock and most are unlabeled.

I really like how this turned out, I just need to learn to take better digital photos! It is perfect for my son's photo, he is turning out to be a handsome young man!

I taught Sarah how to tear Mulberry paper and she loves it! This are photo examples of how to do it. First, you wet the edges of the paper, we used a Q-tip. Then, you gently tear away from the center of the paper and it forms a nice torn edge. She decided to only do 2 side of her paper, I have see this done with all 4 sides of the paper torn. Either way makes a nice effect as a photo mat.
