Hot Air Balloon Ride

My husband and I went on a Hot Air Balloon Ride this last weekend. We have never been on one before, so this was a new adventure. I made the shadowbox above with a picutre the took of us in the basket, a picture of the balloon and the champaigne glasses we drank out of that are etched with information from the company.

It was hot! Now, I know why they say to dress light! There were 8 passengers and the pilot. I did video tape most of it, although my video taping skills have always been lacking, lol! Lots of ground shots and a few too many shots that make my tummy dizzy.

It was so calming to go up and it wasn't scarey! I hardly noticed when we went up to 2500 feet. The scenery was amazing and the mountains are so pretty. This was fun and I would definitely go up again!

Snowflake

My daughter's nickname is Snowflake, given to her by her Uncle because the day she was born it snowed (it rarely snows here!).
My friend Maria created an art piece she called Snowflake. She hand painted a beautiful fairy and reproduced it into greeting cards. I turned that greeting card into a wall hanging charger plate.
I glued the rhinestones, added scrapbook paper in the center and added pipe cleaners around the center circle. This was a quick and easy gift for my daughter.

You can join Maria's fan page by CLICKING HERE! You can also go see all of her other art, which is stunning by CLICKING HERE!
Thanks for reading!

Easter

I made this bunny at work last year and when Easter was over, we wrapped him up to save him for this year. We just set up Easter so we were able to bring him back out, I forgot how adorable he is!

He is about 3 feet tall and made from foam board and daisy flowers, lots of flowers! I loved making him and I am glad that we kept him =o)

I made this cutie yesterday as a display at work. It is from a craft egg, pipe cleaners, moss, a birds nest, a bird and a bow. I carved it with a Versatool and then hot glued everything. This was fast and fun!

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day! I got these cute sock monkey's with unfinished hearts at Micheals the other day and thought it would be a great little gift for my kids. I painted the heart pink, used silver & red stickles for the border, stamped "because I love you" and glued a small bow. The sock monkey has a "clip" arm, so he can hang on to tons of stuff. This was quick and easy and fun. I hope the kiddos love them!

Light Switch Cover

My mom gave me this light switch cover but it was too big for any switches in my house so I decided to scrapbook it! I put this in my scrapbook room and now Sarah would like for me to make her one for her room, but with her brother and her. This was a fun and easy little project to do.

T-shirts

Sarah and I painted t-shirts this week. I made a Halloween shirt and Sarah made a glow in the dark turtle shirt. We cut the images out with the Cricut and then traced them onto the shirt with the paint. We then filled the images with more paint, but we used too much and the shirts took a few days to dry. We learned how to use paint this week, lol! It was fun!

Halloween Costumes

Adam & Sarah in their costumes for school. Sarah is Picacho and Adam is, well, Adam. =o) We made Sarahs from 95% Michaels product. (The yellow pants were not from Michaels.) The ears are paper and black paint with yellow ribbon. The tail is yellow foam with brown fabric paint. The shirt has brown fabric paint.

Adam's is not finished yet. He is going to be yuckie and scary. Pictures to come soon.... =o)

Candy Melt Fun

Posted by Picasa

I had a little bit of time after I got home from work to spend with the kids. I saw some candy melt halloween molds at work today and decided to give it a try. I am not a chef or baker or anything else that involves cooking but this looked simple enough and besides, I have 2 kids to help me! We melted the candy and it was neat because the bags did not get hot at all, so the kids could hold the bags. We snipped off the ends and away they went... Sarah filling the monster finger mold and Adam filling the skull mold. Since this was our first time doing this, we just experimented with it. The kids had extra candy in their bags, so I let them put it on a plate. Sarah made a chocolate happy face and Adam made drops of green. They are refridgerating now, but we snuck a taste and they are so good! This could be a dangerous new hobby!

"My Kids" centerpiece

I started this yesterday and finished today. It was pretty simple, it just took a little bit of TLC time! I purchased the hay bale, the ribbon and the scarecrows at Michaels, on sale. The names of the scarecrows (my kids) I created with my cricut and SCAL using the font Arizona. I asked my son to go outside and find me sticks to use as dowels to hold the names and it looked awesome! It really adding a little something special, since these sticks are from the tree my husband planted when he was 13 years old. I created the pumpkins from my cricut using the Mini Monsters cartridge. I inked the edges of the shapes and then added glitter glue to the leaves to give it a little bit of sparkle. I used my daughters black pastel to create little lines in the pumpkins to give them a bit of detail. Overall, this project cost me under $20 and it was fun to make!

My Mummy has candy for you!

I made this pumpkin at the Michaels Great Pumpkin Event yesterday. Sarah made the adorable black spider. The mummy is 3 stacked pumpkins, held together with a dowel stick and duck tape. Then I wrapped 5 yeards of muslin around her, topped her off with 3 yards of gauze and some googly eyes and 1 pipe cleaner smile. The sign I made with my Cricut, a cut up box, a dowel stick, a piece of wood from my backyard, silver embossing powder and lots and lots of Mod Podge (you can see the Mod Podge in one of these photos, I used too much at one time and it is taking forever to dry, lol!) The black spider is a painted craft pumpkin with pipe cleaner legs, googly eyes and a pom-pom nose. Sarah didn't want a mouth because it is a cute spider who doesn't bite.

We had so much fun!

A pumpkin 2 years in the making...

I was opening up Halloween bins that we stored from last year and found this pumpkin that was not finished from last year, that I completely forgot about, lol! Last year, I was able to get it cut and painted but that was it. The funny thing, it took me an entire 5 minutes to finish it up, lol! I used photo squares to stick the web into the inside of the pumpkin and then just placed the spiders inside the web, the web holds up the spiders just right. This was fun to make and it is funnier that it took me 2 years to do it!

Teacher Tree

Here is another display I did for my work. It is hanging on the wall now, I need to get a better photo of it. I saw a video tutorial by Jo Pearson at www.michaels.com and it was for a Teacher Tree. I saw it and said "I have to make that!" I didn't follow it exactly. I did the background the same and I cut out the branches out of the cork the same, but I used a bag a silk flowers as the leaves. It turned out pretty neat!

Pumpkin Flower

I made this pumpkin at work for a display. I cut a pumpkin shape out of a piece of cardboard about 4 ft wide and about 3 feet high. I didn't use a template, I just free-handed it. It did not need to be perfect because the flowers would cover any errors. I then glued the leaves of the mums onto the stem to make it look like a real stalk. Then I started glueing the flowers on. I started at one side and worked my way to the other. After a few rows of flowers, I glued the leaves in a line to help define the pumpkin. It turned out pretty cool!

Catching up!

I have decided to start blogging again =o) I make so much stuff and I would love to share it! I have photos of everything I create, I just forget to post it, lol!

I made this with my daughter at Michaels scrapbook crop night about 2 weeks ago. It was super easy and so much fun, we had a blast! I used 3 wood letters, painted them black with acrylic paint and then glued halloween scrapbook paper to them. When they were dry, I glued halloween die cuts all around them... it tuned out great!

When we got home, I hung up the letters underneath the frame my daughter made while we were there. She made it by just "messing around" at first, but then she kept getting creative and adding more until it was a masterpiece! I am keeping it forever!
